Title: Nailsea-style Rolling Pin
Post by: TxSilver on February 01, 2009, 08:43:26 PM
I bought a 16.5" heavy glass rolling pin. I found a similar one online that was identified as Nailsea, but I am rarely comfortable with things that are attributed to Nailsea. The pin has applied black glass ends that do not come off. Any ideas about who made it and when? Thanks!

None of the Nailsea pins in the Glass Study resemble these so I think your caution admirable. Possibly more modern, any sign of wear. Glass in Nailsea style including rolling pins were also made in Scotland contemporary with Nailsea.

Thanks for the info, Frank. The pin has a few pinpoint dings. From the weight (2 lb 11 oz, 1+ kg) and color, I thought it could be mid-20th Century. I read that several countries made Nailsea-like rolling pins. I'll mark Nailsea out as a possibility.
