The seller of this paperweight (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?type=2&campid=5335820906&toolid=10001&customid=&ext=260365222714&item=260365222714) suggests that it is 'one of the rarest and most sought after' made by Whitefriars. It is certainly a nice weight, but is it really one of the rarest (I ask from ignorance...)?

Hi Alan
I have this exact weight ie 1979,Clichy Rose etc which I bought in 2002 for £190.
I believe Whitefriars made a very similar weight for the Smithsonian as a limited edition.
I don't think I could tell the difference.
It would be nice to think my weight has gone up to £400, but I doubt it !!
Regards
Roy

I also have one with a clichy rose centre and radial canes (ie starfish pattern), THe Smithsonian is similar, and limited. I think the clichy rose was only used in the last couple of years in various styles. THis is a nice weight. But not ridiculously rare.

Sold, BIN! I remember inquiring about those on the GF. I like those Whitefriars rose canes.
