Title: Heart vase scandi or murano? ID: Salviati, red/silver mica

This is one of the pieces I bought over the past couple of days, now everything tells me Murano, particularly the abundance of silver mica. I know I've seen an identical piece in a book sometime, but be blowed if I can find it at present. Measures 5" high and over 6" across and is thickly cased in clear. Loads of good age wear to the base so help please.

Paul, I'm wondering if one I saw in a similar shape might be a clue? In Glass Forest in Harrogate today I spotted a heart-shaped vase which was made by a Czech glassmaker who had trained at Beranek Glassworks. Also in the same gallery was a vase with the same colours and the silver inclusions, again a Czech artist. May be worth investigating?

BTW the website doesn't give the artist details, those came from an hour-long conversation with the proprietor - a delightfully enthusiastic lady who told us lots about the artists whose work she sells.

I've seen something quite similar from Schauglashütte Thun in Switzerland, and they seemed to be unaware that the red heart shape is in the Salviati collection. Not sure how that dispute ended, and who made these with the silver foil.

Definitely Salviati as they e mailed me to confirm, however, just got back from moving my Mum into sheltered accomodation and a pal of mine who assisted spotted the vase in my study and it's his wedding anniversary on Friday, 23 years and wanted it for his wife, so with a home for it like that I gave it to him for his help.

Not the same piece, but clear parallels

From the ebay description the signature read "'ORREFORS GRAAL EDWARD HALD U1 246 S".

Certainly about as graal as a stuffed donkey, and according to Salviati they made them in the late 1960's with the silver inclusions which were dropped in the later ones for a more contemporary style.
