Title: Indentification / Thoughts - Massive vaseline Art Vase
Post by: Greg. on February 26, 2009, 01:55:27 PM
Hi All,

Could anyone throw any light on the attached vase, ie age, origin, make etc. The vase is just over half a meter in height!

Any thoughts comments would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Greg

So what does the signature (on the edge of the bottom) say or is that just scratch? Looks like opalescent neodymium piece - please check if it turns blue if you take it near a fluorescent tube.

Hi, thanks for your info, unfortunately not signed, the opalescent color doesnt appear to change greatly under fluorescent lighting. Any suggestions? Thanks

I have a feeling this is a Chinese art glass vase.  It's the size that makes me think that predominantly, and I've seen those colours used before.

Hi Max,
Thanks for your comments, do have an idea of how old these vases are....are they modern, my instinct is that it has some age at least 1960s..? Thanks, Greg

The Chinese art vases are very modern Greg. They're whopping great hunks of glass and personally...I quite like them.  You never know, this first tranch of vases from China might become collectors items, if we can just find out who made them.  :)

Any thoughts from anyone else?
