Can anyone help identify maker, age, style name and country of origin of this piece. Nearly 35 cm tall, 11cm diameter at the base.

CH — This shape of vase is frequently found in Britain with a silver rim, which gives us a date. Most of those I've checked seem to be hallmarked around 1910–1912. Also most examples I've seen have been pressed glass, so would have been pressed as a tall bucket shape. The base would have been gripped in some sort of gadget, the top re-heated, and then the vase swung to obtain the narrow neck.
I hope that helps a little.

Hi, my friends,
I wonder, what is the attraction of the 'thorn' glass items? I have a few, even pitchers with thorns on the handles, hard to use, I would imagine. :o All are pretty old, and I was thinking maybe it was a fad or something? :chky:

Thanks for the info Bernard. Have had another look at the item, I don't think there could ever have been a top on it, as the ribs and thorns go all the way to the top. As for these things being a fashion or fad at one time, I did wonder if the spiky surface was to deter children from touching? This vase has quite sharp edges to it. :-\
