This bottle (which I was getting cleaning tips for!) has obviously been underground at some point! The colour is a strange green colour but I cant get it exactly due to all the muck! The rim has been rounded off at the top, and the neck is really narrow - 1cm at top but narrows. It also looks as though the bottle bit and the base have been moulded seperately and joined together.
Can anyone hazzard a guess as to the age of it, and possible use?

Your vase sounds like it has a scavo finish. The finish was made to imitate excavated glass. Scavo glass is common in Mediterranean and other countries. I do not recognize your vase. It looks fairly recent to me, but I could be wrong.

I don't believe it has any age at all. It was made to look like an archeological find and is quite recent. I am not 100% sure but it may have been produced by Lafiore in Mallorca - but it is much courser and heavier than the thing it is supposed to imitate.

Oh sugar! Thank you.
I bought it from a photo and it was a relatively expensive (for me - a cheapskate!) mistake. I thought it wasnt quite right when it arrived as it's too symmetrical and 'perfect'.
God knows what I'll do with it now then!!

I'vehad a look at the Lafiore pieces and they look a bit more 'honest' than this vase!
