Is this Sowerby? Only flint versions (9") appear in the c1940s and 1956 catalogues - courtesy of Glen and Stephen's Sowerby's Vol.Two - George V to Elizabeth II :hiclp: but no mention of a black version. I have two of these and both are slightly longer at 9½".
Many thanks ;)

Anne — Yes, it is Sowerby, as you thought. It turns up on its own, and in chrome or gold stands.

Thank you Bernard ;)

Comes in blue and as well, possibly other colours

And pale pink in an extended out sort of shape! :)

I've seen the extended pink one on my travels and have often thought it looked Sowerbyesque, but was never quite sure.

Neither was I until I compared it in detail to the clear one Anne. :) The base is an absolute match in size, shape and pattern, and there are the same number of ribs to the sides too. I'm convinced the flared one is a variant of the more usual one.

Just woke up. 2634 boat. Only a moron could have made this nice article in black! It wasn't me!!!

;D ;D ;D

Adam: Whoever made it must have been disappointed to not have any flat surfaces on which to put those little floral transfers. ;)
-
Weren't they hand painted rather than transfers?
-
I think there is some confusion here.

It serves me right for being flippant! Yes, okay, the transfer-printed pieces were Davidson, not Sowerby and the hand-painted pieces were Bagley Jettique.
