Title: Aventurine glass information
Post by: Cristi on March 09, 2009, 12:51:58 AM
Hello
I'm searching for information regarding the making of aventurine glases for a project , i'm in need of technical information regarding the making of such glass and it seems such information is a bit harder to find then i thought.
I would be very grateful if i could get some help in finding that info .

Aventurine is one of the most difficult glass types to make as it requires extreme temperature control. I think you'll have to make do with the commercially available forms: blocks, shards or lampwork canes (used extensively by bead makers). These are used as an accent in clear glass - and even then you have to take care not to burn the copper flecks by running the working temperature too high.  A little googling will tell you all you need to know on the technical properties, composition and cooking times.
