Title: Ruby fringe plates - hopefully Molineaux & Webb?

Hi there,

I went to my first ever antiques fair today at Wilton House near Salisbury, hoping to find some Molineaux & Webb pieces to complement my website on the firm, and I think I struck lucky. I found two ruby fringed plates with a greek key design, circa 1860s. The stallholder thought they were Molineaux & Webb, and they are very close in style to a known comport piece at the Manchester Art Gallery.

Has anyone seen similar pieces before or can confirm them as Molineaux & Webb?  With the comport and these plates, I am beginning to wonder if they did a whole service of such pieces.

I'm also curious as to why the two plates are slightly different sizes, one a little under and the other a little over 7 inches. Is this typical for cut pieces, which I believe these are?

Nice  :clap: 5 mm is neither here nor there in the handmade glass world. You will probably find the the depth from rim to table is slightly different as well

I've been able to view the Molineaux & Webb pattern book and the design on these plates is in there as number 7034.  They might be standalone items or possibly plates under a butter dish that bears the same pattern.
