Title: Help identifying makers signature please

Hello folks.
I was recently given this rather stunning paperweight and would love to find out a little more about the maker
I have tried googling every combination of the signature but drawn nothing but blanks so far so any help identifying the maker or giving me some pointers to enable me to research further would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry I should have said that the NP letters stand for Neptune and the number 652 was the catalogue number written in a book that Richard used to keep.
