Title: Please Help Identify this Beautiful Vase
Post by: Mmaryglory on March 27, 2009, 07:29:47 PM
Hello,

I was directed here from the eBay glass chat board. It's wonderful to find this site! I have come across a beautiful old vase from an estate, but I can't identify it. The Grecian pictures reminds me of the Art Deco era. It is beautifully ground on the top and base. A member of eBay's glass chat forum mentioned it might be European, maybe St. Lambert, or Czech, but was not sure...

If anyone has seen anything like this, or knows a maker who designed this style, your input would be most appreciated...

Thank you for all your help!

Mary Anne

Hi Mary Anne
That was a good advice - it is indeed either Czech or Belgium from VSL, I tend to think from the outline of the panels and the background decoration that it is Czech - possibly made by Crystalex. And I would think 1970s or 80s - keeping in mind that this type of neoneoneo glass has been made for a very long time.

Thank you for your information! I very much appreciate your opinion. I know nothing about Czech and Belgium glassware. When you say it might be made by Crystalex, are they from VSL?

Hi, Mary Anne, on Ivos behalf,
VSL is a old established Belgian Glass company, ' Val St. Lambert'  founded in 1826, who still make quality glass and crystal to this day, and Crystalex is a totally different Glass company from Czechoslovakia.

Hope this helps,
Cheers
Andy
