Title: Ribbed pressed fruit bowl - ID?

This one is 7" / 17cm diameter with a low foot, though I don't have a photo showing the foot.  Base is unground.

A very thick and heavy 1.5 kgs.

3-piece mould, 15 ribs, the foot has 15 sides.

No idea of the maker.

Does anyone else?

Hi Chris,

Your bowl is Jobling 'Weardale' pattern, c.1920s. I don't remember pattern no. immediately but I'm sure someone else will be able to add more.

Thank you, both. 
I rarely see much Jobling, for some reason or other, and probably wouldn't recognise things if I did see them (obviously!). 
Can anyone recommend a book or web-site?

Chris — Your bowl, depending on its depth, is either a 1147 Flower Bowl, on Foot, or a 1146 Salad Bowl, on Foot, Cupped.

Baker & Crowe, Collector's Guide to Jobling 1930's Decorative Glass is the only serious reference for Jobling, although it wouldn't have helped you with this query.  Long out of print, it is difficult to find at any price.   I only have two, and could do with a third as my first copy (already rebound twice) is disintegrating again.

Try interlibrary loan at your local library, and remember to check it for damage / missing pages before you take it home.

This bowl is 4" / 10 cm tall, including the foot.  Is that the salad bowl or the flower bowl? 

When the bowl was pressed, the mould was obviously filled to full capacity (I can't believe how heavy it is for the size).  Glass was extruded along the seams between the sections of the mould and you can see where it was filed away after the bowl came out of the lehr, although I doubt the buyer would have noticed.

Difficult to tell from your single image.   A set of three photographs at 30°, 37½°, and 45° down from the horizontal should enable me to say for certain.

Bernard, I just noticed the word "cupped" in your first post.  It didn't register with me till now.  I supposed that means this is the salad bowl.

Can't provide photos exactly as requested, since I'm not in the same country as the bowl, right now, but here are a three more that I've tracked down on me laptop.

Chris — Thanks for the extra photographs.   No need for any more.   Without doubt your bowl is a 1146 Salad Bowl, on Foot, Cupped.

Note that they only mentioned cupped when there was an option, so the flower bowl was always cupped, whereas the salad bowl could be flared.
