Hi,
I have this wonderful little honey or jam pot - I assume honey as it has a bee painted on the front. The glass is thin, as you can see in photo #5, the design clearly shows through. Would this be considered opaline glass? The top is brass and unmarked. It is 4" in height. I'm thinking this is British, early 1900's, but could be way off base.
Any thoughts or information appreciated

Despite the bee being there I would suggest Cookie jar, enamel painted on milk glass in Bohemia, circa 1910.

Hi Ivo,
i agree, except ive just seen the other photos, and the brass top has a spoon hole,

so maybe Honey or Jam pot is more likely . ;)

Aha - didn't see those earlier. I have a cookie jar in Loetz Nautilus which is identical in shape so I :chky: jumped to the conclusion. It is also too small for squashing in cookies I see....

Thanks Ivo and Andy. I didn't think milk glass because it is so thin and has a fire to it in the light.

hello Mary - looking for something else completely, I notice that Barry Skelcher has a virtual dead ringer on page 198 of "The Big Book of Vaseline Glass" - photo 405.
He says his best guess is French c. 1915. Obvioiusly, it is in the book because the piece contains Uranium. Had yu tried it under UV light?? Paul S.

Hi Paul,
I tried the UV light and there was no reaction.
