Title: Cut intaglio bowl with trefoil type arches

I'm not sure if 'acid cut' is the right word for it but it looks like it has been cut and then gilded over. It has trefoil arches, not sure if that would be a good indicator of where it came from? Trefoil arches are defined as being 'characteristic of Gothic architecture'.

I really like it, and it was only £2, so not a bad find even if it does turn out to be recent. I don't think it is though despite it not having any wear to the base. The gilding is faded in places. It has a neatly polished pontil mark.

So then, any ideas? Origin? Date? Manufacturer?

Cut and gilded is the right description for the gold but it also seems to be cased in blue and then cut to clear. Both the decor, the combination of techniques and the quality seem to point in the direction of Saint-Louis which would make this a very prestigious piece of glass. Now SL have been around for a very long time and you can still order replacement glasses for your neogothic glass service that has been in the family since the 1840s (at a price) - and it may well be that this is a finger bowl belonging to one of those classical services. No guarantee without handling it, of course.
