Yup, this bowl is all of those things. It's a busy-busy-bee in terms of content and technique.
I did post it many many moons ago, and c.1880 manufacture was all that was come up with - so I thought I'd just chance my arm and see if any new information could be garnered 3+ years later.
It was originally purchased in Germany.... or perhaps Austria. It was a long while back, and I've bought many things since. ;D

like Manuel - I know nuuuuuthhhhing - but in attempt to show my ignorance, and to get the ball rolling, how about the following thoughts.
What is the metal - sliver or base or chrome (cud they chrome in c1880?)
Any marks on the metalwork.
If the date is correct, then might not the style of decoration been more in the line of Art Nouveau - or perhpas it is and I can't quite see clearly enough. Certainly the Austrians were heavily into what they called the Secessionst thingy (or was that a little later).
If the piece has been used, are there any wear marks on the inside of the glass - also what is the extent of the wear on the metal foot.
Anyway it is attractive, and something I wud fall for. cheers Paul S.

Oh, the base is unrelated to the bowl - I forgot to mention. It's a WMF stand, silverplate on brass, production c.1907 - although it's an older design by a company called Orivit (whom WMF bought out), so is approximately contemporaneous with the bowl.

Orivit was bought out in 1905 - so the item would date from just after the merger. Orivit used various suppliers for glass and earthenware, including Legras. I would not think your dish is a mariage - it looks well matched and original to me. WMF itself is an unlikely candidate. They had a glass making department since 1880, but limited themselves to insets in cut glass in the pre-WW1 days.

Hello Ivo - it's definitely a marriage, as I bought the stand on eBay just last week after three years of looking for something with the correct proportions. Clearly I was spot-on with the match! ;D
The stand came with a very plain star-cut plate of very minimal quality that I'm fairly sure wasn't original to it. Or perhaps it was, if Orivit outsourced their glass. It just didn't seem to compliment the fine quality of the metal casting, which is especially detailed on the screw-finial.
