Title: Czech? pressed comport with pierced rim
Post by: Max on April 18, 2009, 02:07:45 PM
I wondered if this pressed dish (comport?) was Czech, but really have no idea.  It's 18.5cm across the widest point and 11cm high.  There's no markings to suggest that it ever had a lid.

If someone has Marcus' book, does it ring a bell...or am I barking up the wrong tree?  (wouldn't be the first time)   :) :)

Max, I can't see this in any of the catalogues on Marcus book CD.  I'm thinking it reminds me of something - wasn't there an Italian pattern like this that was discussed a while back on the board or did I dream it?

I think I know the one you mean Anne, but I don't recall it having a pierced rim.  I'll have a look through Search and see what I can find later...see if we're talking about the same Italian design!

Thanks for having a look for me.  :-*

I had a Fidenza pressed fruit/ice cream set that was similar but different.
Does this comport have a small impressed 5-pointed star somewhere underneath (I assume there's no impressed Fidenza Italy  ;))?
