Title: Purple Cube Vase
Post by: ckscot on April 18, 2009, 03:00:30 PM
Latest auction purchase, bought because I liked it and it looked vaguely familiar to me (thought it might be Whitefriars or another British maker), but I can't find anything like it in the few books I have.  Does anyone recognise it?

It is 6.25" tall and is 7" wide and deep (so almost a cube), that's 16 cm x 17.75 cm x 17.75 cm.  I has slightly bulbous, uneven sides and has a neat ground pontil, with signs of wear on the base, so not new. Can't be sure about its weight, but possibly around 3kg.

Modern, and turning up all over the place in a number of colours.

Thanks for that Nigel.  I had another look at the wear marks on the base and they strike me as too bright and too rough, as if they have been applied with a grinder something like that.  Just as well I like the piece!
