Title: Early Mandruzzato ? uranium peach and blue

Hi,
i thought of adding to Malcyps topic, but decided to start a new one.
Ive got a couple of these, but found this one at the weekend with Uranium and
more unusual colours.
Is it probably Mandruzzato, maybe early, or did Poli or other companies make them??

Andy, the rim does look like an Alessandro Mandruzzato piece. I don't know if they ever used uranium glass. Do the dimensions of the bowl match the dimensions on their site?

Hi Anita,
Ive just looked through the website, certainly cannot find any similar colour scheme or Uranium,
mine is 8cm tall, theres a few similar, Im not sure how to measure diameter, mine is 13 or 13.5 cm
i cant see a match on the site.

Im thinking its not current production.

hi Andy and Anita,
if you both agree, that the vase shown below is a mandruzzato, we can
be sure they did use uranium. the sommerso has the same colour scheme
as Andy´s vase, too (apart from the inner layer).
BTW it´s the one of which i posted the rim in malcyp´s thread.

It is a Mandruzzato Bowl.
I have nearly the same and I asked a very good expert at Murano Island for his opinion.
M. made this items (very rare) till the end of the fifties.

thanks very much for the information, Ive seen many of these bowls, but never seen this
colour combination before, and i was sure it was an early example!

The years are rather confusing. I read on the site that Luigi Mandruzzato opened in 1956 to make lighting. Production of sculpted pieces did not begin until Luigi's son, Gianfranco (Alessandro's father), steered the company in that direction in 1965. Were these bowls made special, perhaps leading to the product lines that began supposed in the 1960s and later?

hi andy just spotted this thread,i'm afraid to say it but your bowl is 10 times better than mine i'm well jealous,how much did you pay for yours if you don't mind me asking,i paid £3. which was a bit of a bargain.

i think i paid £12 in a small local monthly antiques fair, i dont have it any longer,
the bowl has emigrated to a collector in Australia who paid £42, a bargain!
I was sorry to see that one go!

well done,mine is still in the cabinet at the antiques centre....maybe i'm asking too much.
