Title: Sowerby? carnival two-handled bowl

I have been through the carnival books and through the Sowerby CDs and the nearest I can come to this little two-handled dish is perhaps the exterior pattern is the same as pattern no 1682. The inside is easy, it's identical to the Sowerby Lea sugar and jug. It looks like Sowerby right from the slightly dodgy quality to the iridescence and the interior. Size 5 inches diameter, 2.25 inches deep. Glen, help please.

It's known as Ribbons & Leaves, Christine. It's in "Century" on page 42, but we didn't have an example to illustrate with. As you correctly noted, the interior has the Sowerby "Lea" lazy leaves interior. Ray Notley wrote (HOACGA 1984) that this Ribbon & Leaves item was "borrowed" from Davidson. Seems they made a covered butter in this pattern and then Sowerby used the handled base of the piece.
