Title: Pair of Czechoslovakian acid etched vases?
Post by: lmj on April 25, 2009, 09:13:01 PM
Hi i found these in a auction job lot box, after a good clean they came up beautifully, they depict fruits and vegetable's so i do not know if they are celery or flower vases, feel they may be Czech deco they stand at 8" high and 4 1/2" at the widest but i have no idea who the maker is,,any ideas?  lynn

Would anyone say if these are a pair or would they have been sold separately as pairs are usually mirror images but these vases are alternate patterns.thanks lynn

A true pair has mirror images, but so many vases pop up in twos that they were obviously sold together; one for each end of your mantel piece. Good marketing... Pressed glass vases are never going to be a true pair as they would require twice as many expensive moulds to make. Hand painting, transfers and engraving only require good stock control and careful worker.
