I do like the idea of a Baccarat 'thousand pedals rose' (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?type=2&campid=5336261829&toolid=10001&customid=&ext=270383150094&item=270383150094)...! Sounds Chinese, somehow. But a tad expensive given the condition, I feel.

Alan - are you suggesting that's a Chinese weight????? If so, please give reasons.

Hi Kev.
No, I was not implying it was a Chinese weight - it looks 100% Baccarat to me. What I was trying to say was that the phrase 'Thousand pedals rose' sounded like a Chinese mis-translation.

Alan your post no longer makes sense because they updated the listing :kissy:

Hi Christine
Thanks. Oh well - my postings rarely make sense anyway!
I still like the description of the condition: "The paperweight has overall scratches and light scuffing to the surface and basal ring as well as an eraser sized moon concussion mark at the base and one cresent shaped concussion mark ca. 1/4"and one large flake on the side that is 1/8" wide and 3/16" shallow. Otherwise, is in good condition."
I wonder what a weight in poor condition would be like?

All I can say is - it's a nice weight, pity about the damage and that price seems a tad high to me, but then I'm no expert!!!!

Assuming that a repolish costs about $125 or less (and has no serious risks to cracking the weight which with Baccarat should not be a problem), then the price is about right for about a year ago. But in today's economic times, the price miight be a bit optimistic but not completely out of the ballpark..
And then there's the color of the rose. Most of these are a deep red. This one looks a little lighter in color and that may have some appeal to variety seekers.
