Title: amber / citrine colour vase

hi can anybody identify this vase for me please it is amber has 5 sides,indents at the top very heavy,7inch tall,5 1/2inch across top,2 1/2inch across bottom,smooth polished bottom thanks karen

Hi Karen,

This is a shape I've seen before but never been quite sure about. They're generally thought to be French & date from the 50s, but I have seen no evidence for this.

Cappa (1998) shows an identically shaped vase but with a crackle finish (no.763, p436). He strangely attributes it to Verlux even though he states that it is unsigned & Verlux is generally thought to be a retailer's mark rather than a manufacturer.... Cappa does suggest Sevres as possible maker of Verlux range and this vase would seem to share some similarities in shape and finish with other known Sevres pieces from the period.

Either way, it's a nice looking vase & good quality.
