Title: Large coloured stripey vase any ideas
Post by: Dave the Glass on May 08, 2009, 02:13:39 PM
Got this a few weeks ago & despite much research have not go anywhere.
It is a good size 10 inches high & about 9 in diameter weigh over 1.7Kg, & has been well made.
As you can see it has a bright Orange & Red stripe running through an light yellowish coloured body, the base pontil has been neatly ground. I showed it to Andy & he thought maybe Scandinavian but that was as far as we got, so any ideas please?

Reminds me of some Italian Mid Century lamps I run across occasionally, except the lamps are usually in blue and green, and the lamp bodies are taller and more elongated. I could not find an image on the internet to link to, but will post one if I come across one.

Hi Dave,
i had a feeling i thought more italian than scandinavian, in Leslie Pinas  circa 50s glass book,
theres a few A.VE.M pieces in there with similar styles.
I remember thinking it was quite a well made piece, and not brand new.

Cheers
Andy

I do not have much to say other than I do not believe it is AVeM. The style is not one that a recognize for them. The vase looks like it may be Murano. But alas, it looks like it may have been made many places. It is pretty and definitely a mystery.
