Hello, all.
I would appreciate your help. I am trying to identify the maker of this opalescent pitcher, and determine the date it was created. It is 5.5 inches (14cm) tall and 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter at its widest point. It is bulbous at the bottom and then abruptly narrows in diameter to about 2 inches (5 cm). It has opalescent stripes running parallel to each other which cross each other at the bottom.

Hi Phil,
Could I attach your photographs to your post itself? Tinypics delete the photos very quickly.
Thanks
Cathy

Hi Cathy,
Yes, that would be fine. I tried several times to post the photos within the message, but all I received when I pressed the "Post" button, was a blank white screen. I finally tried to post the message with hyperlinks to the photos rather than attachments, and was successful. I wish you success, and thank your for your interest. Phil

Hi Phil, the white screen means your pics were too big for the board to handle. They need to be smaller than 1000 x 1000 pixels in dimensions and less than 125kb in size and they should work for you. If you get stuck you can always email the pics to one of the Mods and ask us to resize them and add them into your topic for you. :)

Hi cant help much but ive purchased a jug yesterday which has the same type of twisted handle very nice quality like yours i will try to post pics for you to see asap...
-
Can we see the handle end on please
-
similar nice quality handle on this jug not sure though of a maker either.
-
I will provide you a photo of the handle end-on, but I'm afraid it may be a day or so before I can get it to you. I apologize for the delay. Thanks for the input so far. Phil

Here are four photos of the handle end on.

English might be a good bet. Several companies registered similar handle designs, including Boulton and Mills, and Thomas Webb

An earlier reply requested that the original photos be included within the post. Here they are. Thanks.

That reeded handle of the opalescent jug is quite common in the US. If the pontil is ground, polished and slightly concave I would look to Phoenix as the maker. They made a lot of these smaller size pitchers in the late 1800's.
-
Depends where the owner is, late 1800s US glass is not so common in the UK. Trade then mostly seems to have been the other way.

Thanks, Ron and Christine.
The pontil is ground, polished and concave. I am in the US. The seller believed it was Monot Stumpf, and although the coloring is somewhat similar to Monot Stumpf open salts I seen, the opalescent striping is not quite the same and there is no iridescence.
