Title: Alexandrite (Neodymium) Glass Cat
Post by: Rosie1 on May 15, 2009, 01:37:39 PM
Hi,
I would like to know if anyone has any info on this cat. I have no idea of it's maker. I think it is made from Alexandrite (Neodymium) glass as it displays a delicate lavender pinky colour under normal light but does a remarkable colour change to blue under florescent light. I am thinking of selling it on Ebay but I also have no idea of it's value. Any help would be appreciated.

Please see both pics - the first was taken in my kitchen in normal daylight against white card, and the 2nd was taken in the same position, but at night when my florescent kitchen light was on.

I have no idea of age but I have had this a few years in my collection.

The bottom of this cat is circular, flat and shiny and it is in excellent condition with no chips although base does have a couple of little nicks around it's edge. These do not really show.

Size is 5.5" high to tip of ear & 2" across.

Weight approx 350g

Hi,
this cat probably comes from Northern Bohemia (Czech republic) town Železný Brod - glasswork ŽBS (Železnobrodské sklo).
Designed by Miroslav Janků.
