Title: Rauchtopaz jug w/ facet-cut base rim - c.1920s/30s

I bought this small jug on the usual auction site, as the shape and colour seemed very Holmegaard c.1930 - but upon arrival the colour wasn't quite right, and it is very thinly cased in clear glass, which is something Holmegaard never did with their røgtopas colourway. The handled is distinctively 'lobed' - something I've not seen on Holmegaard or other Danish glass.

Whilst this rim shape seems very common in Danish glass from the early 20th century, I suspect it's from elsewhere.

Any ideas?

That is a very hard question. Rauchtopaz was very popular in Germany (Friedrich Kristall, Joska Bodenmais, Zwiesel, Gralglashütte, WMF Eislingen, Eisch) but also in Holland (Kristalunie Maastricht) and various producers in Belgium. I have a full shelf of unidentified smoke - all vaguely produced between the early 30s and the late 60s ("the murky years") and collected in the vague hope that maybe one day related colours might reveal the producer. So far, no luck - also because there are colour variations and production inconsistencies....

I suspected that this would be one of those near-unanswerable queries, but you never know!
