Hello,
Can anyone help with information regarding a paperweight that is suppose to be a Caithness "Caledonia" number C15733. It is suppose to be rare but I can find nothing about it. I have two Caithness Paperweight books and there is nothing listed for that paperweight. I would like to know if anyone can tell me it's value, designer and year of production. I have been trying to add a photo but there seems to be a problem with the site.
Any info is appreciated.
Thank you,
Debi

Here is an image of the paperweight that is being referred to..... Debi emailed me an image to see, and I thought I could post it since she was not having any luck.

This weight has been on offer on ebay for some time. As it doesn't show up in any regular Caithness catalogue, I had contacted the seller, and got the following info:"I have the original box for the weight, .... label with a barcode and the legend "Caithness Paperweight Caledonia Blue 5912794 Edition Size Unlimited"."
Now - the C in "C15733" indicates the weight was made either in 1985 or 2005. The "5912794" fits the numbering scheme used in 2005 (completely different from 1985) - so we can be sure the weight was made in 2005.
I don't have any info on the designer, nor for which purpose it was made, i.e. why it doesn't show up in the regular catalogues.
We have the seller's permission to use the image on Scotlandsglass (http://www.scotlandsglass.co.uk/cms/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=159&Itemid=51), and it will show up there in due course. Therefore any additional information would be appreciated.

If I were to hazard a guess at a designer, I would say it had a Helen MacDonald ish look to it. Maybe it's possible to contact her or perhaps Alan Scott

Here's Helen's response:
Yes, you were right , I was the designer of Caledonia Blue (there were two or three other colours too) and it would have been launched around 2005 as an unlimited pwt.
I think that they may have been sold in the Perth visitors centre at first ... I can't remember if they went on to be in the range or not.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards
Helen
