Hi, has anyone any ideas on this streaked vase with a seal type pontil which (I think) reads `H 1892 - 1992 W`. The vase is blown and 8 5/8" high. Is it a commemorative piece from a well established glasshouse, or maybe something produced to commemorate a centenary ? Many thanks, Jeff

Well the vase looks like Hartley Wood but i have never seen a marked one and i have had several over the years .There are a lot of collectors , must be worth a few shillings jp .

Hi jp, thanks for that. I have just googled and found an interesting article (Cambridge Glass Fair) that gives a potted history. Seems that 1892 was a relevant date, when James Hartley`s grandson restarted the firm. The only odd thing is that the firm finally disappeared in 1989, 3 years before the centenary marked on the base of this ?? I must say though that the colours of these vases is startlingly beautiful. I must find out more. Many thanks for your help thus far, (and for alerting me to this wonderful glass). Jeff

Hi again, just found this link to a brochure with a photo of a glassworker `applying the stamp of authenticity` to the base on a vase that is the same shape as this one.
