Title: Help identifying a jug
Post by: marvellousmel on June 20, 2009, 05:39:19 PM
Hi everyone

Does anyone have an idea of the maker?  It has a polished out pontil mark and has lots of signs of wear on the bottom.   Its 11 inches tall and 5 inches at its widest point and weighs in a 1kg.

Thanks for your help and knowledge, always much appreciated.

Mel

The most likely maker is Krosno, Poland, c.1970s-80s. I had one of these in amber with a clear handle, which is a typical Krosno combination.

Yup - I was spot-on. Saw an identical jug to yours, with four glasses, at the Gresham's School fair on Sunday, each marked with gold foil 'Made In Poland' labels.
