Hello,
If anyone can help with information about this paperweight I would really appreciate it.

(http://homepage.ntlworld.com/a.thomson9/151.jpg) There is a mark as you can see in the photo but it is not a ding or damage. It appears to be on the inside of the paperweight.
Thank you and I hope someone can help.

Murano!
-
Specifically, Fratelli Toso.

Hi,
Thanks for the information so far, I did think it was Murano. Now if someone could help with an age and value that would be super. The paperweight was left to a friend in a Will and she has had it for 40 years if this helps.
Thanks again,

A paperweight similar to yours is shown on page 198 of Leslie Pina's Fratelli Toso. This page is from a 1960s JI Co catalog. Toso made a lot of the weights that JI Co (Jordan Import, NY) imported to the USA. The "book value" of a 3" weight like this is about $100. eBay values tend to run $25-35. These weights are fairly common. Toso made a good number for export.

I should add that having a picture in the JI Co catalog doesn't mean that JI imported it. I have seen the same weights with different import labels. I notice that yours has the extra yellow canes that makes it more interesting. The one in the book doesn't have these canes.

Hi Anita,
Thank you for all your help! Do you think the yellow canes make this more valuable? I have looked and I can't find any with the colors that are in this paperweight.

It is hard to say what effect it would have on the value. I would imagine it would be close to the same, but I could be wrong.

Thanks Anita, you are a star
