Another family item that has been rescued from my hoard of sisters, it stands a little over 12 inches or 31 cm tall.
It glows brightly under UV light, I would guess it was English made but can anyone be more specific?
Many thanks, John.

Would be nice to find out the maker finally! Mine came from Austria, so Bohemia is another poss?
-
I would say not English
-
Bohemia, Belgium and Bavaria are known to have produced these floor vases. And who knows who else....
-
Interesting, I will see if I can dig up any info from the family on where and when it might have been bought (might need a Ouija board though).
Bit small for a floor vase or does the term not imply size?
Pamela, is yours uranium too?
John.
-
No it's pink! As far as I know uranium doesn't come in pink :24:
-
Seeing the top of your vase John, sent me on a search for this one. I think this could also be from the same maker.....sorry that I don't know who....it looks very much the same at the top as yours.
-
Tina, I think your vase looks a bit more modern than this one, not that I know how old either of them are, just a guess.
Pamela, Uranium pink is the colour I go when I have had too much to drink. ;D
John.

John, your uranium question isn't for nothing:
Yes, Christine is right, THIS my vase is just pink and white :)
BUT I've got several pink items which glow brilliantly under black light, like for example Brockwitz' 1915 (or earlier) vanity set items:
http://www.pressglas-pavillon.de/toilettenservice/01212.html - especially the lidded dish
and also later Brockwitz glass like one of these:
http://www.pressglas-pavillon.de/schalen/01076.html - not vividly, but green
further uranium glass:
http://www.pressglas-pavillon.de/vasen/02532.html - amber
http://www.pressglas-pavillon.de/schalen/00763.html - pink Walther
and another pinky-amber crystal cut that went to Dirk meanwhile because not pressed glass - Hallo Dirk
and another vase, which remains unphotographed, I must admit :o this latter one is similarly shaped as yours, is pink inside and the outer white glass is very uranium

from far, at home, I'd say mine is about 22 cms tall and by no means a floor vase
Why in heaven did I start my pages without giving the measurements of each item ? :hb2:
difficult to do that now, after more than 9000 htmls.. :nogoss:
-
The ones that don't glow vividly don't contain uranium, it will be maganese
-
Thank you, Christine! And how about those pink glowing vividly? I have to try photos of the older Brockwitz, I guess :rn:
-
I will borrow a UV light from my nephew and take a photo of this one, never tried to photograph anything like that before.
John.
-
I've never tried shining my light at pink glass, perhaps I need to :o
-
With UV fluorescent tube as 'lightsource'.
-
This little Stumpf, Touvier and Violette salt glows brightly under UV, but I think it's the cloudy bits that do it. Sorry, Can't check as my UV thingy died.

How about:

Bernsdorf a possibility and in about ten sizes, available in hexagonal and square section too if I am reading that right.
-
If it is Bernsdorf the opalescence suggests it is an earlier piece, late Victorian, apparently they started in 1872 so it's possible. From what I've seen of their 1930's glass it's usually just clear or frosted.
-
Would have assumed earlier too, interesting to see the shape though. Have to assume other makers are possible, not the most distinctive design.
-
I noticed these similar vases, top left, the other day in the 1913 Streit catalogue, which could be a possibility.
https://www.glas-musterbuch.de/Streit-1913.105+B6YmFja1BJRD0xMDUmcHJvZHVjdElEPTQ2MzcmZGV0YWlsPQ__.0.html
I tend to forget to check the Streit catalogues when searching, they had a large and varied output.
-
There are going to be more makers as well! Guess that is almost inevitable with a successful design. Streit is entirely unknown to me, looks like a good match again.
