Title: Hoping this is Czech
Post by: PAUL H on July 27, 2009, 08:27:02 AM
Hi.. could anyone confirm or deny the ID of this piece of art glass, I think it looks Czech in origin but maybe Murano
its amber and green and cased in clear it has a flat polished base with some wear marks. Its height is 185mm and it weighs 1275g.
Any info gratefully received. Paul.

I do not know the maker, but I would say Czech also....  Does not feel Italian to me at all....

I understand this to be Czech too - it is certainly not Italian/Muranese. It's a good example of hot-worked glass formed at the furnace.
I never found the maker or designer for this, but believe that it is probably from a range called 'Niagara'. It can be found in either of two colourways - green/brown and green/blue (I think...). I would imagine that it was either made at Skrdlovice, or at Chribska, but my instinct (for it is only that) says the former.
Hope this helps,
Mark
