Title: Kosta glasses ???
Post by: Mikael on August 01, 2009, 06:13:14 PM
Can anyone provide any info about these glasses I bought this weekend at a glass "flea market" up norht in Sweden ????

They claimed it to be Kosta glasses from either the 20's or 30's. Dont know if thats accurate.
The same glasses are displayed at a table spread at the Carl Larson museum outside Falun.

I loved this crystal and got 27 glasses at a real good price. Red wine, white wine, and two smaller sizes for cognac or such...
Attached a picture of the red and white wine glasses.

I think this is a fairly traditional shape produced by many factories - so pinning down a specific manufacturer may be difficult. In the book Scandinavian Glass 1930 - 2000: Smoke & Ice there's an undated advert for Kosta showing similar glasses with cut-decorated bowls - series name Kent - but the same form, with and without engraved decoration, also pops up in catalogues for both Kastrup (1910) and Holmegaard (1923).

Thanks a lot !!!! I will try to find out some more..
I visited Holmegaard last summer and looked at their exhibit but don't recall remembering this model.

My glasses are not engraved so it might be holmegard or kastrup. I will ask at the kosta show room in town too.

I got them for 4 USD each so quite a good bargain regardless the manufacturer.
