Title: Suspicious Signoretto Signature

I don't like to point out auctions, but I wanted to say that 270436356422 on eBay looks suspicious. The writing looks off and I've never seen Pino abbreviate his first name. Comments?

Nice bird. I hope someone can convince me that this is Pino's signature and that someone didn't scratch the bird so badly.

Hi Anita i have been thinking the same ,i must say i like the Penguin though,  it looks a good one . I have a Pino Signoretto  prancing horse like the one in your zoo it is a plum colour and as you say full first name .jp

Hi,
I have seen several pieces made by him, but very different signatures, depending the time when they were made. I think that, as often happens, the signature sometime is not engraved by the master glassmaker, but by some assistant and therefore it can change time by time. It can be true expecially for the more "commercial" items.

I took a look at the signature again. If he signed some of his things with a P., there's no reason to believe that the signature isn't his. The only other variation I had seen on his sig was on a wonderful Tang horse he made. He signed it "Signoretto Pino" in that case.

I think the item shown would fall in to the category of more "commercial" judging by the main body of work shown on his website.

The signature looks recently applied to me, which would be fine provided that the item has been made recently.

I don't think I'll write him to check on an eBay auction. The bird looks like a small version of Seguso VA's kiwi. The bird is considered a good one.

I checked the signture again this morning and noticed the final "o" on Signoretto was very different than his pieces are normally signed. I could be wrong, but I believe Pina may have signed all of his pieces himself. The signatures of the pieces here in the US are pretty consistent. Italy probably has a lot more pieces to see. I've often wondered if the pieces we see here were made here or in Italy.

I would say for this bird to buy for the bird alone. It is a cutie.
