This piece has thwarted my photographic skills for a long time, but I finally got some good photos. The pattern repeats itself all the way around this little posey pot, so I had to put a black sock inside the pot so that the pattern on the back side could not be seen. The bottom view shows how the pattern radiated from a central point, then swirled out from that point. I bought this piece in Camden Passage in 2004. The maker has eluded me for those 5 years. The size is 2 1/4" tall, 2 1/2" across the top rim. The second link shows the pot from a photo taken a couple of years ago, without the black sock in it to make the pattern stand out. This piece cost me 50 GBP (about $100 US at the time I bought it). I have never seen this pattern in any other shape. In a larger shape, the pattern would naturally be elongated, and might be vertical instead of slanting to the right.

Hi Dave,
My thoughts go toward Richardsons, although Cyril Manley suggests that the lemon colour should indicate Thomas Webb. Though I am aware that one has to be a tad circumspect about Manley because there ar a number of proven inaccuracies now.

Dave & Nigel — See this piece (http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,27943.msg152540.html#msg152540), which Christine posted recently.

I'm obviously missing something here Bernard, perhaps you'd talk us through it? I'd value your thoughts.
Perhaps you could have a look at Manley page 83, item 202, he briefly discusses the technique and colour used by Richardsons and Webb. I noticed the mention of the colour lemon, which made me wonder about the single photo (no.2) of Dave's above.

Nigel — Christine's vase was made using a pattern mould that might not be dissimilar to that used on Dave's vase herein, except that it was stretched, and Dave's vase might only have been part of the pattern, like small examples of Walsh Opaline Brocade. The pattern on Christine's vase looked more like the pattern on a stretched vase that only recently completed on eBay, that had either stevens or walsh in the text, not the title, so I've lost it, as I wasn't watching it. From memory the part of the pattern towards the top of that eBay vase looked fairly similar to that on Dave's vase.
All of this is just speculation, although it is quite likely that Dave's little vase only shows part of a pattern.

Thanks for that Bernard.
It's certainlty true that there also appears to be a lot of pattern on the base of Dave's vase, so I do take the point about not all the pattern showing.
