Title: 2nd weekend buy, Help required in IDing Knobbly vase.
Post by: davidfish1212 on August 17, 2009, 01:16:25 PM
Hi all,
This was another buy at the weekend, I bought it because of the strange colour, although red, around the top it has a yellowish colour, is there a reason for this? The vase itself (so i was told) is from the 1960's, it has a cool knobbly thing going on and stands about 8" tall, can any one tell me anything about it.

Thanks and slainte, David

i have an identical one in dark green which has been tentatively attributed to Empoli - because of colour, finish, thickness etc.  And yes, red was also used in Empoli.

Thanks Ivo, is there any reason for the yellowish colour to the glass at the rim of the vase? ( always wanting to learn, I'd really like to pick up a nice bit of glass using good judgement rather than relying heavily on lady luck all the time!!) I've got to admit though, i'm enjoying the learning curve, this glass collecting really is quite addictive ;D
Slainte, David.
