Title: Can anyone id the pattern
Post by: Pain on August 23, 2009, 08:33:33 PM
Hi we saw this pretty in France today so we bought it.  Excuse the tiny pic I couldn't fathom how to reduce the size properly  ;D ;D
It is very thick and heavy.  Yellow and blue sort of cloudish pattern inside with ribbon edge.  There is 6 arc clear pieces attached around the side of it.  It resembles a deep ashtray.
Probs mass produced but we thought it was sweet

Hi and welcome to the board. I think we'll need a larger pic to see what you have... there a help and how to post here all about pics which should get you started... you don't need to make the pic so small as the board resizes thumbnails for you (all clever stuff huh!)

Looks Murano-ish to me.  :chky:

Thanks we didn't think it was Murano, it has a somewhat better feel to it than Murano but has the weight of Murano

Basing my suggestion of Murano on the general look as well as the clear casing on the outside that is brought up to form "petals" or "scallops" in clear around the edges. Much like this one i my living room (ignore where it says Monart, that's been seriously disproved".

Thanks Carolyn - Have been admiring your piece I see the similarity with the scalloped edging in clear.  All a bit knew to the glass game but have bought bits on and off over the years - just hope my cobra is not a chinese copy he is so gorgeous.

Ugh, he is a snake and therefore cannot possibly be gorgeous!  ::) But the colours are pretty and if he was a bowl or teddy bear or something, then yes, he would be quite lovely!  :hiclp:

I wouldn't have said it was Murano personally

We don't think it is either Christine.  Would you have a suggestion or would you prefer to not comment on this one  :)

I don't have an alternative, although I find your comment a little odd

Some Murano is very, very high class stuff.

Hot worked glass is always difficult to ID if it's outside the mainstream
