Hi has anyone an opinion on this vase please? It's 8" high by 6" wide.
-
Hi.. Looks modern Polish production TK Max IMHO. not Sklo Union.
-
Thanks Paul, not exactly what I wanted to hear, a tenner not well spent then  hope I have better luck with the 2nd of my two speculative buys of the day :-[ In future I should maybe stick with what I know, mind you he did say something like "dobra" and "dzieki" has I handed him my hard earned.
Regards Chris

Chris dont be too hard on yourself for a tenner its a nice vase anyway.. reminds me of some of Jan Sylvester Drost's designs and besides that I could be wrong on my initial diagnosis. Regards Paul.

These are not modern - I did know who made them but I've now forgotten (rubbish memory for names), Mark Hill had one for sale at the last Art Glass fair and Marcus was giving it the eye. It was bought by someone else however. We need Marcus or Mark to have a look at this thread ...
-
Feeling better already, pretty sure it's not too modern, age related wear on the base, nice sharp lines, polished rim looks well made quality, just an attempt at "life beyond Whitefriars", for me, and trying to branch out a bit, thanks Pip for your comments.
Regards Chris
-
Correction, it wasn't at the last Art Glass Fair in April but one before that - the one where Marcus was launching his book.
-
Oh Chris if only you mentioned the age related base wear.. but in my defence it does look very modern, shape wise it reminds me of something by Hadeland of Norway is the base polished and flat or as it a polished pontil. Regards Paul
-
My Mum bought one for less that Chris paid at a bootfair a couple of weeks ago, mind you, hers has got a chip (which she discovered on the way home!) I thought it was modern too...something about the cut lines and quality of the glass. I'll check hers for wear when I see her on Wednesday.

:spls: I got Paul to take a look at the vase and he thinks its very *similar* to Mark Hills (the one Marcus was looking at) but he doesn't think it's the same.
Doh! I hope Mark sees this thread so he can put me out of my misery!

Hi, to be honest it's 1 of about 25 items (mostly Whitefriars) I have bought over the last week or so, liked the colour, the vertical lines on one side and the horizontal on the other, the seller told me a couple of people had told him it was Sklo, so just put it up on here hoping if it was a known piece it would be easy to get confirmation. The base has an edge the same width as the rim, the pontil mark is oval and covers about 3/4 of the base and has definite age related wear, sorry for throwing you Paul, but at that point I had not really had a good look at it, will post a picture of the base.
Thanks Chris

As Paul said, it does have the feel of Drost's work: http://www.sklounion.com/NotSkloUnion.html
See the green vase (yeah, that's my vase in the photo which I gave to Marcus) :)
-
Max - that's the one that Mark Hill was selling (the green one in the centre of your link) - the vase in this thread and the one in your link are actually very different aren't they - sorry for the confusion! ::)
-
Oh right! Well, big UP to Paul for catching on so quickly! Thanks for sorting it out Pip :hiclp:
I flipping love that green vase. It's got horizontal ribs on the outside and VERTICAL ribs on the inside. It's a great piece of glass.

here is a photo of the base

Hi, just wondering if you ever pinned down the manufacturer/date of the green vase ? Have a chance of buying a set of three but unsure of age.
Thanks,
Andy.

I think modern Polish is most likely.

I'm pretty sure that's a Lindshammar vase by Gunnar Ander. I've been researching an amber one about a year ago and found a labeled one but google doesn't find anything useful.
Best Regards
