Hi all,
Been on here a fair bit this week- now I am a lady of leisure?
So here we have a recent purchase by Mike, its rather large, 34cms diameter, 1.5kg, 17cms tall and the pedestal has been applied tidily in MHO.
The amber honey hues are quite nice, and from a certain angle it looks like a bowl of honey, quite becoming.
Cheap as chips, from a charity shop, hope its not Chinese, but have a feeling someone will point me in this direction.
TIA Sharron

Probably wrong but the bowl colour reminds of Webb's and Whitefriars but the foot says no,now totally confused, nothing new there then!Keith.

Hi,
I've moved this up should anyone have any further info to add?
Have seen a similar coloured vase on here- http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,25594.0.html
It has us stumped, should I post on Whitefriars? Any assistance would be welcome, Thanks

Thanks John?
Can I ask another question- having held it up to the light, you can see a sort of ring or two in the glass, like a faint circular line which I have always understood NOT to be a sign of quality. Also the foot is uneven in so much as the bit attached to the base of the bowl is wonky. I quess I have answered my own question as to its authenticity.
The colour is lovely though, and the bubbles quite becoming. Havn't found a home for it yet.
As you have gathered don't really know owt about WF, we only have 5 pieces and that is pure coincidence.
Rambling again.... Sharron

Its unevenness and the foot ,make me think it might be a studio piece, or a 19th Century item,
is there any signs of age wear to the foot?
Cheers

Hi Andy,
In MHO I would say yes there is some age to the foot. The actual rim is quite minimal and thin, but upon close inspection there is wear and scratches. Tthe whole foot is a little cloudy, and doesn't feel very smooth, as though it has a layer of dirt on it. I have washed it again, and polished the foot but only the outer edge of the foot rim are clear. Does this make sense?. Oh and as for that "ring", it is, it would seem where the glass flares out, so not a fault at all.....just the variances of making the piece.... doh.....
I'll try and get a better photo of the bowl and foot, when the batteries have re-charged. Many thanks Sharron
