Title: Broken pontil indicate modern asia?

I picked up this pretty blue basket thingy today with silver hearts with pale blue things.  It is nice but has a broken pontil it is sharp and have cut my finger on it  >:(
This indicates to me modern asia is my gut feeling right?

Could well be Asian in manufacture, although the broken or snapped pontil does not necessarily mean that it Asian in origin, this can be seen on glass in many counties, inside and outside of asia.

Just to add the metalwork decoration IS magnetic.
