5.5 ins high and flat bases,am I right?Keith.
-
With ground and unpolished base. I have seen two sellers at an antiques fair claim these were Graal (Grale in one case which amused me) and made by Orrefors. One seller was asking £150 a superb price for the genuine article but £149 more than I would pay for one of these.
I informed both sellers they were telling porky pies (nicely and quietly) but they did not care.

Maybe £1 is a bit tight, even for me. ;D

Yes some clown keeps putting one on ebay as ~ very rare unsigned Orrefors experimental piece (in my opinion) . Its been listed several times , no mugs so far .
-
Take it then I'm right,Chinese and new, paid more than a pound but not much,Keith.
-
Yes Keith, there was a website showing these a while back but I think it's gone now. There are more examples on the board somewhere... possibly in the Resolved sub-forums > China & Taiwan: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/board,26.0.html

Not necessarily new; they have been around for many years. Some are much better than others. Ones with good colour balance and well-set decoration make a very pleasant addition to many a room.
-
Yes Kev i have a nice one probably had it about ten or even fifteen years we use it for flowers, bought it at a Church jumble sale .
-
Thanks again for the input,Keith.

The technique of painting on the inside of glass is long established in China - and very good they can be. I have small snuff bottle which is beautifully painted, with a poem too - incredible skill.

That's some thing else to be weary of,there are snuff bottles around claiming to be internally painted and are transfer prints, how they get them inside I have no idea but you need to use a lens to look for brush strokes and any over lapping of the print,Keith.
