Hi Keith,
I have a similar one in blue - mine has "CE" emblem/cartouche- which I believe to be a a sherry company.
Designed by Ole Winther, Kastrup, Holmegaard carafe first produced around 1955.
Luscious ruby colour, not seen one in this colourway until now......

It's a 'Viking' series carafe and, as mentioned above, designed by Ole Winther in 1955 for Holmegaard (not Kastrup-Holmegaard, as this didn't exist until 1965). The colourway is Brun / Brown - it's not quite as common as some of the other colours, but there are still plenty of them about.
The ones marked 'CE' were commissioned by Cherry Elsinore in 1962, and were distributed as "collector's bottles" with their fruit wines inside. The colourway for yours is Grøn / Green (although this always looks a little more blue than green to my eyes).
The series was produced until 1970.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Pinkspoons....
That helps us both me thinks......
And yes always thought mine was blue, will have to take a closer look.
There are so many creases on the main body, why is this do you think?

They were designed to look coarse and ancient, insofar as I can tell - even though they're machine-made (but hand-finished). They're probably mimicking a much older form, but that's just a guess.

Thanks for the replies,it is brown,I think the sunset at the time made the colour look a lot nicer than it actually is,Keith.
