Title: Any Ideas who made this gold swan bowl (read ashtray)
Post by: ardy on September 21, 2009, 08:54:02 AM
Hi all

I bought a few bits this weekend and I wanted to get your thoughts on them.

The first is this elaborate gold ashtray it has aventurine beautifully laid out in lines, it sits on a applied base.

It weighs 910 grms and is 140x140x140 (5 1/2").

Hope someone recognises this one.

The bowl i would think is by  Barovier ~ Cordonato d,oro or gold rope although the swan looks a little like a Salviati Swan , but i will stick with Barovier .Its gold leaf not Aventurine . jp

Hi John thanks very much. I didn't think it was gold leaf as I have another piece with gold leaf and it looks different to this one but I guess it all depends on the gold leaf used.

It came with a Seguso pestal that I have seen before but it was obvious that it didn't match this piece.
