Title: enamelled spirit decanter
Post by: david31162 on September 28, 2009, 07:11:35 PM
When I first saw this I thought it was a modern, home enamelled piece. On closer inspection the enamelled 12 showed that the enamel is original (but that the stopper is not) . Its not like the Stuart enamel pieces I own ..could it be French?  Any ideas ?
Thanks again

David,

The '1' of the 12 on the base is continental, but I'm afraid that is as far as I get on this one!! ....Pardon the pun :-[

Thanks Nigel,
I don't think I'm likely to get too far with this one.

Yes Pretty sure this is french c1920-1940

The blank is very like one Sevres used -but they signed their work

Alas there were probably hundreds of small french enamellers operating at that time and many never signed their work

cheers

Mike

Yes,I think it isnt that special. It was one of those that looked more exciting when it was dirty.
