Hi guessing this carafe is french purely because I purchase it here. As you can see it is rather dirty at the moment and has a lot of gilt rub. I personally like the patternwork. It appears etched and then sanded? There is two words on the base but for the likes I cannot read it and also has a number 2. I personally dont think the stopper is original as it is slightly loose and it looks like it should have matched a cut glass decanter. Could anyone tell me a little more about it please ie manufacturer and age? Its not for my cabinet show it will be used for the OH's wine! I would have got him a new one but he is rather clumsy after a few.

It appears to say MADE IN ***** (I can't read where it is!) :-[
I'd agree that the stopper probably isn't original.

The shape is very JG Durand... so French is probably spot-on.
