Just to start things off, I'll say that, if I were to bet, I'd bet this isn't Murano. The way the gold is applied and the shape don't look like Murano to me. But there's lots of Murano I would say that about, I confess. Did any Chinese companies use gold like this?

I think I might agree with David

Me too.  The gold aspect being the factor.

I would like to see a better shot of the base. Can I suggest that instead of giving us a picture straight on of the bases, that you take them at an offset angle to allow us to see the finish and age wear of the bottom surface....  Also, taking them closer up and using the macro on the camera provides better detail in the images.Macro is usually selected by choosing a little icon that is a picture of a flower.

As far as the piece goes.... if the color I see is accurate (hot pink) I would say not Murano.....  Possibly studio, as we see that type of gold inclusion patterns in studio glass in this area..... I would expect 10 year old Chinese to have a really frosty ground base, which this does not appear to have....   It also appears to be three layers with clear outside, pink interior and a white interior which has been pulled to opaque when blown.

Does not strike me as 10 year old Chinese... but I could be wrong.....would not be the first, or last time....

Thanks Craig...more pics attached...i cannot get a great shot of the base...assuming my camera (i need an upgrade)...clear base...base has good wearing...not too deep with scratching...ground and polished base...some minor pin prick chips where the casing starts at the base...i would of expected/thought that the gold foiling in a chinese piece to be a little more 'over the place'...the gold foil in this piece seems more arranged to the clear casing spirals...which goes up to about 3/4 of the vase (the foil from base to tip)...4 layers of glass...a subtle pink on the inside...followed by white...then a deeper pink...then cased...the pink changes in different lighting...flash could be giving it the 'hot pink' look...LOL

26cm high (my firsst post was a guesstimate)
15cm x 15.5cm at the rim
10cm x 10cm at the base

I am assuming i will never identify this piece...unless another turns up with some sort of identifying mark... :24:  ::)

-Also..i purchased this from a flea market from a lady of retirement age (probably going for a sea change) about 10 years ago...she had another piece i bought...
