Title: Please can anyone identify this beautiful piece of 1960's glass
Post by: itenthusiast on October 09, 2009, 11:31:23 PM

This piece of glass was bought in England, as a gift in the 1960's.  I am hoping to find out who it was made by.  It stands 5" high, approx 4.5" at the widest part and is just under 2" thick.  Heavy for its size.  It really has a beautiful glow when in the sunshine or under lights.  It's colour is more purple than amethyst.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.   Many Thanks Norma

Hi Norma and welcome to this board!
Your vase was made by Beyer & Co. in Neustadt / Bavaria around the
time you´ve bought it.

Hi Dirk,

Thank you so much for that piece of information.  Now I need to find out a little about the company.  Any chance that you would know anything more about Beyer & Co.  Are they still running today.  What other glass did they make?  Hand made or mass produced glass?
Again - many thanks Norma
