Title: Fake Per Lütken signature - is it actually on a Wedgwood decanter?
Post by: Pinkspoons on October 13, 2009, 12:08:00 PM
I took a punt on this decanter with a set of Canada glasses because the signature the seller described when I enquired about it sounded just like the one used on production samples. I didn't recognise the shape, but the colour in the photograph and the general style looked okay.

It arrived today and the colour is pretty much Wedgwood 'Midnight', the decanter body - now I have reason to question it and look elsewhere - is near-identical to Thrower's 'Marcel' decanter, the Lütken signature completely unlike the real-world one, and the engraved numbering completely apart from anything Holmegaard have ever used.

Are my Wedgwood suspicions correct?

Yup... to answer my own question.... it does seem to be a 'Marcel' decanter with a ball stopper.  ::)
