Title: Riihimaki - Ahkeraliisa Glass thickness question and production imperfections?
Post by: Greg. on October 17, 2009, 10:11:09 PM
Hi All,

Wonder if anyone can advise, do Riihimaki Ahkeraliisa vases come with different thicknesses to the rim..?

Also has anyone come across production imperfections in these vases before, particularly to the rim and neck area?

I have attached a photo of a Ahkeraliisa vase I have recently acquired, which has a production imperfection to the rim, the rim is very thick.  I gather these vases normally have a thinner rim and the thicker versions are more unusual, can anyone advise or comment if they have seen anything similar? - especially production imperfections.?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Kind regards,
Greg

In every glass production there are 'seconds'. Some glass makers sell these in their factory shop to visitors at reduced cost, others polish them up as best they can and sell them, and other factories will not allow anything substandard leave the house, ever.
Finncrystal (Nuutajärvi/ Arabia) may have belonged to the second category.
