hi all i bought this from a lady i know who deals in all things, she thought it was czech, i think maybe but im not 100%.
Gorgeous great lump it is.
Made from a steel blue colour (similar to whitefriars arctic blue & indigo), very heavy thick glass, with heavy base, it has a side "wing". The rim is uneven so the front is lower than the back.
The base shows plenty of age wear so im guessing 1950/60's
The base is flat and well polished
26cms tall, 12.5cms wide at widest almost 1.6kgs.
does anybody recognise this piece or have any idea on maker country, or age??
many thanks
michelle

Mmm? You may have a good 'un here. Looks very like Whitefriars pattern number 9559 in the 1960 catalogue, but these usually have a polished ground out pontil. So am not 100% sure.
Have a look here

thanks for that, i thought it may be whitefriars but stupidity took over and i dismissed it becasue there was no polished pontil, and i know no pontil doesnt mean no whitefriars :-X. (the creeping doubt was there still as i had checked the whitefriars site and the colours, should trust myself a little more sometimes ;D)
thanks so much for that i will upload it onto the whitefriars site also and see what they say.
the feel of the glass the colour and everything sceams whitefriars, and it does look spot on for the piece in the link.
will let you know what they say
thanks again
